Phone & Messaging


GroupMe offers free group messaging and works with every device. The app download is not required. This is common among Cal Poly students.


WhatsApp provides free worldwide messaging and calling. Download required.

Google Voice

Google Voice offers free worldwide messaging and calling. No download required, but it does require a Google account.



Zoom has quickly become one of the preeminent audio and video conferencing tools. Cal Poly account allows you to host up to 200 participants. No download required. Use your Cal Poly email when you sign in at the Cal Poly Zoom page.


Skype offers free online messaging and calls with video and audio conferencing capabilities. Download required.

Google Hangout

Google Hangout also offers group video calls for free. No download required.

Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams offers an audio and video conferencing platform that not many Cal Poly students know about, but every student can access. Log in using your Cal Poly email address.
